An Introduction of LED Segment Display

LED segment display is one of the commonly used display screens. By inputting the corresponding current to its different pins, it will light up, so as to display the number, date, temperature, and so on.

Because of its relatively low cost and simple use, it is widely used in the fields of electrical appliances, especially household, such as air conditioners, water heaters, refrigerators, and so on.

LED segment displays are composed of many SMD LEDs mounted on the circuit board and plastic shell to display fixed and simple numbers and other information patterns. The most common forms are the numbers 0 to 9, one or two decimal points, alphabet, marks, and symbols.

The shell is made of flame retardant PC plastic, with high strength, impact resistance, aging resistance, UV protection, dust prevention, and moisture resistance. LED segment displays have the advantages of low power consumption, low heat, impact resistance, and long serving time. With the help of a controller, it can realize the effects of running water, gradual change, jump, and chase, etc. It can be divided into common cathode and common anode according to the attribution. A wide range of colors are available: white, red, green, blue, orange, etc.

 With the development of technology, it is supposed to be replaced by segment LCD display in some areas. If we compare it with segment LCD display, it is much cheaper and much brighter, suitable for industrial illumination and indication, but low class and much thicker.

LED Segment Display Sizes

Our segment LED displays are available in sizes ranging from 10mm to 500mm. Larger or smaller custom sizes are also available,  but the unit price will be much more expensive.

LED Segment Display Colors

We use various wavelengths of LED lamps to meet the color requirements of customers. A wide range of colors are available: white, red, green, blue, orange, etc.  Even custom color options are available as long as the MOQ reaches 50k.

LED Segment Display Shapes

We offer round, square, rectangle, and octagon-shaped LED segment displays to cater to different style preferences. You can also opt for custom shape design.

LED Segment Display Brightness

Displaybly adopts different power consumption LED lamps to specifically match the brightness needs of your order. 

Small power consumption (0.06W) SMD LED including 0402, 0603, 0805, 1206, and 3528.  Common used.

Medium power consumption (0.1W to 0.2W) SMD LED including 3014, 4014, 5050, 2835. 

LED Segment Display Voltages

Common anode 5.0 and cathode 5.0v are the standard driving voltages in the LED segment display industry.  Custom voltage options are available, including 8.0v, 10.0v, 12.0v,  and 24.0v,  to specifically match the voltage requirements of your order.

New Custom LED Segment Display Design Development

01 Communication

To start, you have to elaborate on your specific demands. It is best if you can offer your drawings. From our experience, many of our customers only have a concept in their mind and they ask for a quote or samples directly. This is not how it works. Sometimes a video conference or a face-face conference is necessary before we can fully understand your requirements. It usually involves a lot of questions, such as: 1. What is the application of the products ? 2. What is the timeline you’re working from? 3. What problem do we expect us to solve for you?

02 Design

After the first step, we both have some basic understandings . We pass some projects which are not suitable for us. And we can move on the next step: design. To better service our customers and save both of us some time, we will ask you to fill in some of our online forms. Online form custom LCD module. This is the basic information we have to acquire. If you are not certain about some parameters of custom LCD module, we will make the most reasonable design for you from engineering prospect.

03 Quote

Once the preliminary drawings are approved, we offer an official quotation which includes the unit prices, the tooling fees and the other details. Submit the payment if you are happy with the prices. If you can’t accept the prices, we can go back to step two. we can make it cheaper by simplifying the design. After we receive the payment, we will start to make the official drawings. It usually takes 1 to 3 days.

04 Prototypes

At this stage, we build samples based on tooling orders to justify proof of the concept. We can’t start the prototype process unless you sign on the official drawings. It usually takes 7 to 25 days to finish the samples base on the difficulties.

05 Validation

You as the customer validate the efficacy of the custom design before we agree to move into the larger production. It is normal to make several times of prototypes. One time tooling fee and no extra cost until you are satisfied.
